Our New Booking Wiget

Tuesday, November 22nd, 2011

This is our new calander widget that anyone can now have embeded onto their website.

What Does This Mean?

This means that if you run a B&B, hotel, guesthouse or bunkhouse then your customers are now able to check availability, book activities & pay securely online without leaving your own website. The availability is real time and exactly the same as what you would see on the Highland Activities website and the same information that we see in our office.

What do you need to do to be able to put this calendar on your website?

We can supply you with either a formatted page with information about Highland Activities that is relevant to your area with images & the calendar embeded in it or we can just supply you with the informationand code that your web designer will need to put it on for you.

We are also happy to deal with your web designer directly if you prefer.

If you are the owner or manager of accommodation within the Highlands and would like to work with Highland Activities please get in touch with us to express your interest on 08450 945513 & ask for Andy or Megan.

Cheers for now

Sea Kayaking & Dolphins

Sea Kayaking, Otters & Dolphins Near Inverness

This weekend I (Andy) attended a sea kayaking course based near Inverness. The course was all about sea kayak leadership and after sitting the assesment I will have a sea kayak guiding qualification. The course was very interesting and I was amazed with what you can see on the outskirts of the city.

On Saturday we were playing underneath the Kessock Bridge which connects Inverness with the Black Isle as it crosses the Moray Firth. As we were paddling and chilling out a couple of Dolphins were playing on the suface/ I’ve never seen Dolphins so close up before and these guys were pretty big. After a while the Dolphins took off so we cncentrated on some more paddling skills in the 6 knot flooding tide and boily whirlpools.

We took a break for lunch around 1 p.m. and as we were having lunch on the bank an otter appeared a couple of times and appeared to be fishing & playing in the flow. It’s just a small example as to why sea kayaking in Scotland is so amazing and that these experiences are so accessible less than 2 miles from Inverness city centre.

Sunday we took off to Hopeman which is on the east coast near Lossiemouth and Elgin. This strecth of coastline is massively under rated in sea kayaking with natural rock arches and caves to explore along the way. We stopped for lunhc on a beach with caves and had a quick explore after a small surf session.

All in all a great weekend and a I kept having to remaind myself that I was on a training course! No pictures I’m afraid but maybe we will have some to show you from our staff sea kayaking & bothy trip next week !

Cheers
