Looking out the office window it would be fair to say that today could be considered a right off for heading outdoors unless you were a duck. But you would be wrong! Some of our best quad trips go out on days similar to this. Some folk just aren’t happy unless they come off the quad covered in mud head to toe which on a day like today is pretty much guaranteed.

The weather doesn’t stop our guys getting out on the estate and we have wellies and overalls for you to borrow so it shouldn’t stop you either. So as long as we aren’t experiencing some of our legendary horizontal rain your fairly safe… then again some would say it adds to the challenge!

For those of you still eager to get outdoors but can’t bring yourself to face the rain there is always our 4×4 driving and 4×4 safaris which will let you enjoy the sites while staying dry.

So all in all a wet day in the Highlands is certainly not a right off!

Quad Biking Inverness

Highland Activities are pleased to announce that we are now working with Bogbain Farm to continue to provide adventure activities in Inverness beginning in March 2012!

We will be offering quad biking, buggy racing, clay pigeon shooting, archery & paintball for all adventure lovers in the Inverness area. We will be bringing along some new quad bikes that will handle really well around the tough, bumpy & technical course and also running time trial buggy racing in one of the fields at Bogbain.

We will also be offering clay pigeon shooting, archery and paintball under the Highland Activities banner and we are also looking into introducing some new activities which may include white water canoeing on the River Ness, River Rafting Safari Trips, Gorge walking and canyoning.

Don’t forget that the River Garry is only 45 miles down the A82 and offers some of the best white water rafting in the country with it’s guarenteed water that is released from the dam.

We are already very busy throughout March & April with stag weekends and hen weekends in Inverness so book early to avoid disapointment!

Nearly Canyoning Time!

Yesterday morning was spent riding powder on my snowboard over the back at Nevis Range as winter returned for a brief period, a fantastic day with deep soft snow and sunshine!

This morning I awoke to 8 degrees with wind and rain and a forecast of more warm weather and rain for the week ahead and I have to say it is starting to make me think of spring time and getting back out on the river again!

As the weather starts to get warmer and more settled at beginning of April we start to run our water based activities & start venturing back into the world of canyoning, gorge walking, white water rafting & Funyakking.

This year we are looking at introducing some different venues for canyoning and gorge walking with the possibility of canyoning down the main river coming down from the north face of Ben Nevis. So if you are planning to climb Ben Nevis and are looking for an alternative activity before or after your ascent then fun and adventure await you!

Canyoning is a great activity for families, youth groups, stag weekends & hen weekends & a great alternative adventure sport to white water rafting or gorge walking.

If you have never experienced canyoning before then take a quick look at our website which explains what canyoning is and what you can expect to experience during your trip.

White Water Rafting In Scotland

We now have dates for dam release on the River Garry for 2012, call us on 08450 945513!

Scotland is a fantastic place to enjoy white water rafting due to the natural landscape and also because we get a lot of rain!

Scotland’s rivers can be world class given the correct conditions and water levels but this is not always the case due to the geography of our landscape and hieght of our mountains. Unlike the Alpine regions or North America & the Himalaya Scotland does not have glacier fed streams that keep our rivers full during the spring and summer months and we are very dependent on the correct amount of rainfall or releases from dams to enable white water rafting in Scotland to be a great guarenteed experience.

Guaranteed Water Spring & Summer 2012!

Highland Activities have access to a fantastic strectch of white water that is guaranteed due to dam releases once or twice every week on the River Garry.

White water rafting on the River Garry offers guaranteed fun and exitement of grade 3 & 4 white water. Our white water rafting trips are suitable for families, youth groups, schools & of course they are very popular with stag weekends and hen weekends .

The River Garry is very accessable from Inverness, Fort William, Glasgow & Edinburgh and can be combined with other activities fora great day out.

Check out our white water rafting options here

So with wedding season fast approaching it is time to get those all important stag and hen parties booked up. If you are reading this you are more than likely the chief bridesmaid or best man who has been put in charge of the difficult task that is organising your best friends last weekend of freedom before they tie the knot. First things first… get a list of all the people your friend wants at their stag/hen weekend and get in touch with everyone on the list and see who is up for what and try and find something that is going to suit everyone! We now have 5 locations across the Highlands and offer a wide selection of land and water activates so are sure to have something that will please everyone! If the group seems to be pretty energetic and up for trying anything then we would suggest trying White Water Rafting, Canyoning, Paintballing or Quad Biking! On the other hand if everyone is looking for a chilled out weekend with a bit of fun then we would suggest trying your hand at some Target Sports (Archery, Clays or Tomahawks), Scenic Rafting Safari, 4×4 Scenic Safari or Canoeing/Kayaking on the Loch.

Now the hard part…. You know where you want to stay and what you want to do but you now have to pin everyone down to a date! Get a couple of dates sorted that suit the Bride/Groom and their closest friends and family!

If you need any help finding accommodation, places to eat, transport or other things to do while you are in the Highlands then feel free to get in touch at any point!

Good Luck!
